Qualifications: Requires a Master of Social Work Degree and a PEL School Services Personnel Certificate.
Other Qualifications/Competencies:
Must have the ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with BMP staff, member districts and related personnel and to contribute to the accomplishment of a shared goal.
Must have the ability to effectively communicate with others, to create a climate of trust and address possible conflict in order to resolve such conflict at the earliest possible stage.
Reports to: School Social Worker Supervisor
Principle Duties and Responsibilities:
Act under the Mission Statement of the BMP Cooperative.
Prepare a Social Developmental Study of the integrated report for a child who has or is suspected of having a disability to assist in addressing assessment questions.
Attend and participate in Building Based Team, Eligibility, and Individual Education Planning meetings to interpret assessment results in the area of social/emotional functioning.
Uses expertise in the areas of student social/emotional functioning to assist with data collection and/or classroom interventions.
Consult with district personnel to assist with educational, behavioral, or vocational planning.
Provide direct individual and/or group counseling as indicated on Individual Education Plans to resolve alleviate or manage key factors that affect the student’s functioning at school.
When appropriate, provide direct individual, group or classroom intervention to regular education students.
Assist parents in understanding their child’s special education needs and provide information on child development.
Provide linkages to resources available within the educational system or in the community.
Provide crisis intervention strategies and direct crisis intervention support as needed.
Provide workshops/in-service training to member districts, BMP staff, or to community groups as requested.
Maintain timely and accurate records/reports.
Attend in-service training sessions, workshops, seminars, etc., to increase knowledge of current methodologies and issues in the field of School Social Workers
Perform/assume other duties that may be assigned by the School Social Work Supervisor and/or the BMP Director.
Follow the policies and procedures of the BMP Staff Handbook.
Evaluation: The performance of School Social Workers will be in accordance with the provisions of the BMP’s policy as described in the approved Evaluation Plan and aligned with the Performance Objectives.

Effective for the 2024-2025 School Year, all newly hired Social Workers with 2 or fewer years of experience may be eligible for an additional $5,000 a year stipend for three years.
Qualifications:
You must be fully licensed and have the ability to work the full contract in a BMP-determined “hard to staff” position.
You must have 2 fewer years of experience in your field.
You must sign a 3-year contract
You must receive “Proficient” or better on your final evaluation.
